2000 Awards

Norwalk, CT (BoxingGurus.com) - The year 2000 has been a spectacular year for the
sport of boxing. Despite what skeptics claimed about boxing being
a faltering sport, this year has proved otherwise. According to ESPN Chilton Research,
boxing has become the second fastest ranking sport in terms of percentage increase
in fan base. Demonstrating this is the resurgence of boxing television
programming, such as ESPN's Friday Night Fights, HBO'Championship Boxing,
Boxing After Dark and KO Nation, and Showtime's Championship Boxing.
This year has provided us with some spectacular bouts and some big surprises.
We saw Felix Trinidad prove his skill and heart in the ring with two of
this years best fights against Oscar De La Hoya and Fernando Vargas. We witnessed
Lennox Lewis solidify himself atop the Heavyweight division. We even
saw Oscar De La Hoya sing.
At this time we would like to thank the thousands of visitors we have
had since launching the site in November. We have enjoyed hearing
your comments about the site and the sport of boxing in general.
We at BoxingGurus.com hope that we can continue to develop this site into
one of the greatest on the net and look forward to hearing from everyone
in the future.
As for 2001, it is already shaping up to be another banner year for
the sport!!
