This much anticipated Heavyweight
championship fight will pit the champion, Lennox Lewis versus the number
one contender, David Tua. We at BoxingGurus.com possibly see this
fight having either a fast or slow pace with either resulting in same outcome.
First, David Tua could come out swinging just like Michael Grant and attack
Lennox Lewis. Most boxing analysts think that this is what will happen,
but Tua saw what happened with Grant and might opt to not be so aggressive.
We think that if Tua is aggressive and goes after Lewis, Tua will get caught
and be knocked out early in the fight. Secondly, David Tua can be
patient and try to work his way past Lewis’ jab and land his punishing
left hook. That is the way we at BoxingGurus.com see the fight going.
Lewis will use his jab (and 15-inch reach advantage) and keep Tua away
so he can’t load up his left hook. Look for Lennox Lewis to keep
his right hand on his right cheek just in case Tua slips inside and lets
one of his left hooks go. Lewis is a very smart fighter and won’t
take any big chances because he is a much superior boxer than Tua, and
is almost guaranteed to win the fight if it goes to the judge’s scorecards.
The only way David Tua is to have a chance is if he can get inside and
knock out Lewis with his left hook, and we just don’t see that happening.
Lennox Lewis winner by decision.
