Eric Lucas finally won his first world title on his third try, by beating Glenn Catley in a rematch to claim the vacant WBC Super Middleweight Title.  Lucas was previously unsuccessful in gaining a world title against Roy Jones Jr. and Fabrice Tiozzo.  Lucas is a plodding type fighter who will try and wear down his opponent.   Lucas isn't flashy, but does what he needs to win.   Most recently, lost his title by controversial split decision to former world champion Markus Beyer.  The fight took place in Beyer's homeland, Germany, so one has to wonder about hometown officials.  Lucas was never a top flight champion, but he was a solid one, so expect him to either get a rematch or another chance down the road at a title soon.
