Bebis Mendoza fought on the Evander
Holyfield/John Ruiz II undercard and lost his first defense of his WBA Junior
Flyweight Title to Rosendo Alvarez. Mendoza had won his first world
title by a disqualification over Alvarez. Boxinggurus.com was at the first
fight and we thought it was a good decision on the referee's part to stop
the fight after Alvarez was warned 4 or 5 times about the low blows.
Mendoza lost this second time on a close split decision that could have gone
either way. The same thing can now be said for the third fight with
Alvarez. Alvarez won a narrow decision over Mendoza, which might promt
another rematch down the road some time. |
